child of a king.

driving home from my brother's graduation yesterday, Jesus was really wooing me hardcore.

so when i see myself in the church family, i stick out like a sore thumb.  you know that one member of your family that everyone is embarrassed by?  everyone has someone like this in their family.

the one with that loud voice that carries to anyone within 100 yards.  with off the wall ideas - usually quite controversial.  they say the wrong thing at the worst possible time.  they pick their nose. they have those HUGE glasses that magnify their eyes... whose ears stick out even further than their shoulders. the one that wears sandals and socks together even though it's not cool anymore. YUP that's me... velcro shoes and all.

and sometimes i really feel that outside-ness feeling.  especially over the last 2 years.

during my commute home from ohio yesterday as i was listening to some worship tunes that my little bro gave me, i was thinking about all of this. 'in christ alone' came on... a song that i've heard at least a thousand times.  and i heard the lyrics "for i am his. and he is mine. bought with the precious blood of christ".

and it hit me.  i am his.  i belong.  i am the way that HE wants me to be.  he gave me my personality.  he gave me my tendencies.  i am his.  i am a child of the king.  and he wants me in his family.  he wants me to be a part of his bride.

i am very thankful to look at the church as a family.  not everyone in your family is your best friend, but it's even deeper than that.  you love them no matter what.  you go through things together whether you want to or not.  flaws and all, you are loved and you belong.  the family wouldn't be complete without that dorky family member.

thank you for loving me and for being patient with me as i continue to grow into my ears and learn how to whisper.
