garage sale finds

yes... garage sale season! found a killer of a deal.  i forgot to take a before picture... it was a brown wooden shelf thingy.  i just really like the design and it looks really cool in my hallway beside all of my black & white pictures and frames! adds architecture, i guess.  it is amazing what a little bit of black spray paint will do!  :)

p.s.  does anyone have a clever blog title idea for me?  the dawn of dawson? the curious case of kylee dawson? haha j/k.   i'm trying to think of one... i just didn't want my middle name in my title since my first and last name are the website... you  know?  and since i have 9 million interests, it's not like i can name myself a cooking blog like 'pinch my salt' or a sewing blog like 'made'.  suggestions VERY  welcome.

apron

since i have a 4 week break from o-chem, i have really been practicing my sewing skills.  here is the apron i made.  don't look to close, you might see a billion flaws :)  i used some fabric my mamaw gave me.  she gave me sooo much stuff last weekend when we were home for father's day and chelsea's wedding.

i have come to learn that a seam ripper is my new best friend. haha!

next on my list is recovering some outdoor furniture cushions that my mom gave me.  and i'd like to make a doggie bag storage thingy to put on des's leash when we go for walks/runs.  everytime, without failing, he takes a dump... even if we just walk like 4 blocks.  o puppies. i need to get all of these things done before july 12th when i won't have a life again.

my parents are coming to visit paul and i this week!  we're soo excited!

pillow

i don't want to brag, but i just finished my first project all by myself! haha, totally kidding.  it's really not that great, but i am super excited that it worked!

i just added a ruffle for decoration onto a pillow case that i made with my mamaw a couple of years ago.  sorry the pictures are so blurry, paul took our new camera to philadelphia with him, so i had to use the old one.

so i sat down to make an apron today and then realized that the only thread i have is green! haha! so now i am off to joann's before work to stock up on some more commonly used colors :)  haha!

my dog loves to sit on the ledge of our front porch.  he looks like a guard dog... a sphinx thingy?  or even a doggy god?  i don't know.  what do you think?  :)

my hubby and i just got back from NYC visiting friends and family for the world cup celebrations... i'll tell you more about that later.  

this is us at brunch in a legit german restaurant (even the bathroom signs were written in german) before the HUGE crowd came for the germany/australia game.  the world cup games in nyc  is like us excited for the buckeyes at a national championship game.  the restaurant had a beautiful layout.
