okay guys, i really want your thoughts on this article. it's by donald miller, the author of the book 'blue like jazz'. i really like this article and i see a lot of truth in it. please tell me what you think of it. and how can we change this crazy cycle of talking bad about other christians and their theologies? what about bad mouthing other religions (yes, it's uncomfortable, but i went there)?
how do we fix this? what's the solution? if you don't agree, why not? Comment, email me, facebook message me. division in the church is such a hard thing. it hurts my heart. a lot.

i'm not trying to bash the church by any means. i love her. i am a part of her. i wonder what the church in Acts would think about this and what they would think of the part of the body of the american church. i wonder what Jesus thinks. how biblical are we? i think there is a lot of good in her. but why the division? why do we get so fiery and defensive when it's all about Jesus? His law is love and his gospel is peace. That's all that matters... it's love and Jesus.
Thanks Ky I enjoyed reading this article. Ever since this whole Rob Bell fiasco I've been reading several articles arguing both sides of this situation.
ReplyDeleteI think there are a few things we have to understand. On the narrow path that leads to heaven you have the "Love of God" on one side [lets think of it as a ditch] and the other ditch is "Fear of God". Both are exhaustively and inexplicably important in walking with God.
Calvinist are always a little closer into falling into the ditch of "Fear of God" and Arminian are a little closer to wiping out in the ditch of "Love of God". I know this sounds funny because things are so beautiful and good and God gives them both to us, but we we have to understand is we are called to "run the race on the path." If you fall into either ditch you are at risk of getting "hyper-calvinist" or "hyper-arminian" and no longer running to the object of our "fear and love" namely Jesus!
There is a lot more to this thought but what I am trying to say is that both things are such amazing things, it is all by His grace that He shares them with us, but BOTH things are necessary. We need to know what the fear of God is and what the love of God is. We need to ask each other edifying questions that push us to "our prize."
Because we are His portion and He is our prize, drawn to Him by the grace in His eyes, and Yes "IF GRACE WERE AN OCEAN, WE'RE ALL SINKING"
